Silver Gilt Winning Garden
This year our Southport Flower Show garden proudly won the silver gilt medal. We wished to build a garden that had a light, tranquil feel that would suit a modern garden or property.
We titled our garden Reflection on Studio Living By Design. As more and more people are choosing to work from home we have designed this garden with an in built studio, perfect for office use. By keeping the design simple, yet interesting, we have created the perfect working environment. By taking the office out of the house and placing it in the garden limits destractions and provides a professional edge to home working.
The garden also includes space for relaxation, entertaining and family use. By including several low walls to devide the garden areas, it craetes extra seating as well as asthetically creating rooms in the garden. We sculpted the lawned area to provide extra seating and an unusual feature within the lawn. This included a fish path that used limestone to define the head and tail.
The tranquility of the garden is enhanced by the inclusion of a formal pool. The pool is serrounded by paving on three sides that over hang the water. On the far side of the pool a grey rendered wall bridges the pool to create the impression that the pool dissapears under the wall.
The planting was designed to show several differant styles including, formal, dynamic, low maintenance, cottage and minimalist. the use of selected specimen plants really adds another dimension to the garden.
